About

Anxiety disorders are a group of mental health conditions characterized by excessive fear or worry. They can significantly impact daily functioning and quality of life.

At Ello, we are dedicated to providing specialized care for individuals struggling with a variety of anxiety disorders such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety Disorder, Postpartum Anxiety (PPA), Agoraphobia, OCD, Separation anxiety, phobias and PTSD.

Types of Anxiety Disorders

Generalized Anxiety Disorder is marked by persistent and excessive worry about various aspects of life, including work, health, and social interactions. Individuals with GAD often find it challenging to control their anxiety, which can lead to physical symptoms such as fatigue, restlessness, and difficulty concentrating.

Social Anxiety Disorder involves intense fear or anxiety in social situations where one may be judged or scrutinized by others. This disorder can lead to avoidance behaviours that significantly impair social interactions and relationships.

Postpartum Anxiety (PPA) occurs after childbirth and is characterized by overwhelming feelings of anxiety related to the well-being of the baby or oneself. Symptoms may include intrusive thoughts, excessive worrying, and physical manifestations such as heart palpitations.

Agoraphobia is the fear of being in situations where escape might be difficult or help unavailable in case of a panic attack. This often leads individuals to avoid public places or situations that trigger their anxiety.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is defined by unwanted obsessions (recurrent thoughts) and compulsions (repetitive behaviours) that individuals feel driven to perform. These obsessions and compulsions can interfere with daily life and cause significant distress.

Separation Anxiety typically manifests as excessive fear or distress when separated from a primary attachment figure. While commonly associated with children, adults can also experience this disorder.

Phobias are irrational fears of specific objects or situations that lead to avoidance behaviour. Common phobias include fear of heights (acrophobia), spiders (arachnophobia), and flying (aviophobia).

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder develops after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares, severe anxiety, and uncontrollable thoughts about the event. It can affect anyone who has experienced trauma.

Our commitment to providing specialized care for various anxiety disorders ensures that individuals receive the support they need to manage their symptoms effectively. By utilizing evidence-based therapies tailored to each person’s needs, we aim to improve overall mental health outcomes for those struggling with anxiety.

During your first session, your therapist will guide you through the therapy process, ask questions to understand your problem better, and get to know you from a holistic perspective. Many individuals and couples find hope and relief in their first session after taking the critical first step toward improvement. This initial session frequently leads to new realizations and insights.

We treat both individuals and couples receiving therapy for anxiety.

You and your therapist will work together to figure out a schedule that fits your needs and lifestyle, whether it’s weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
